The WHO Collaborating Centre for Nursing Research Development is hosted by the University of São Paulo at Ribeirão Preto College of Nursing – Brazil. Since its first designation in 1988, its activities have focused on three areas: research, human resource training and knowledge dissemination, in Brazil as well as internationally.
In its activities, the Centre attempts to integrate international health priorities with the College of Nursing's mission, which is to create and disseminate nursing and health knowledge that contributes to the scientific advancement of the profession and improves the health of the population and, at the same time, to educate human resources in health to be the protagonists and leaders of the individual and collective integral health care process.

Cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa (PALOPS):24 Bachelor's degrees, 10 Teaching Diplomas, 3 Master's degrees, 2 Ph.D.'s, 1 masters student, 20 interns in 2007, 10 interns in 2008, 11 interns in 2009, 10 trainees in 2010, 10 interns in 2011 and 9 interns in 2012.
